First Things First is going to look awfully different in the coming days, as co-host and Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter is officially out at FOX Sports.

The former Minnesota Vikings receiver, who has been with FS1 since 2016 after being let go by ESPN, is no longer involved in any capacity following an investigation, according to John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal, as well as a harsh statement from the network.

Former Cowboys, Giants, and Ravens defensive tackle Chris Canty has been filling in for Carter alongside Nick Wright, and looks like the most likely choice to succeed him.

According to Ryan Glasspiegel of The Big Lead, Carter was suspended by FOX last week, which indicated why he wasn't on the Thursday edition of FTF. Sources claim that Carter was upset with the fact he was not involved with FOX's Thursday Night Football coverage. While he was based in Manhattan and could have contributed, FOX chose to fly in Reggie Bush and Tony Gonzalez from Los Angeles. However, this bold move involves far more than a personnel spat; indications are this stems from a serious investigation.

While doing a debate show at 6:30 AM instead of staying in his football comfort zone could understandably frustrate Carter, there is likely more going on than just one isolated spat over a TNF role.

If anyone needs a rent-a-quote football analyst with years of pedigree and experience, Carter is officially back on the TV free agent market.
