Cowboys Just Used Some of Their Precious Cap Space on FB Jamize Olawale
By Michael Luciano

The Dallas Cowboys need to be careful with how they manage every single cent of their cap space now that Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper both need new contracts. That hasn't stopped them from locking down a key component of their special teams unit.
Fullback Jamize Olawale will return to Dallas in 2020 after the Cowboys picked up the option on his contract.
The Cowboys have picked up the 2020 option for FB Jamize Olawale, per source. While his offensive role in Dallas has been limited in two seasons, he’s one of the team’s core special teams players.

Olawale, an undrafted free agent out of North Texas, signed with the Oakland Raiders out of college and spent six seasons as the team's fullback. He was traded to Dallas in 2018, where he has spent the last two seasons as the starting fullback.
He has featured on just 11% of the team's offensive snaps over the last two years, but has played on 63% of special teams snaps. His dirty work in two phases of the game was enough for Dallas to reward him by picking up his option which will result in a cap hit of $1.7 million.

Bringing back a core special teams player doesn't have the gravity or impact that a potential Prescott deal would have, but the Cowboys retaining one of their more unsung heroes over the last two seasons is still an important move.
