Cowboys' Taco Charlton Tweet Suggests He'll Be Inactive for Week 1 as Trade Rumors Loom

Let's take a step away from the Antonio Brown saga and discuss other potentially-compelling NFL storylines, shall we?

Dallas Cowboys insider Mike Fisher believes that defensive end Taco Charlton will be a healthy scratch for Big-D's showdown against the New York Giants on Sunday, hinting that Jerry Jones and Co. could be scheming to trade the former Michigan Wolverine.

Charlton was recovering from an ankle sprain that he suffered during the Cowboys penultimate preseason tilt versus the Texas on Aug. 24. However, he recovered quickly and was a full participant in practice leading up to Week 1.

Ironically enough, it was Taco himself who spiced up these trade rumors. On Saturday morning, he posted a cryptic Tweet that featured a photo of him celebrating upon sacking Eli Manning in 2018. The caption reads, "Maybe next time Eli. I guess I'll have to wait for that now."

Uh oh.

Could this post just stem from his potential inactiveness? Or could it be that Dallas has informed him that they plan on offloading him for spare parts?

Perhaps it's a mixture of both. Whatever the case, Charlton could have very well played his last snap for America's Team. In 27 games (seven starts), he's compiled four sacks, 28 solo tackles, eight tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hits, and one forced fumble.
