Cowboys Signing Former LSU and Alabama CB Saivion Smith Could Be Incredibly Sneaky Move

Continuing a productive free agency, the Dallas Cowboys have signed another cheap player to help bolster their defense.

Cornerback Saivion Smith, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars, will now be playing down in JerryWorld. The 6-1, 200-pound defensive back was a 5-star recruit coming out of high school, but has struggled to find a more effective use for his athletic abilities since then.

He played for LSU and Alabama in college, and started 14 games for the Crimson Tide. He racked up 60 tackles and three interceptions, but since then he hasn't done much of anything. He's yet to suit up in an NFL game, though he did play in two games for the XFL's Houston Roughnecks.

Nonetheless, this is a sneaky move considering his potential and experience playing for two of the best teams in the SEC. He has the size to be a physical corner in the NFL, so if the Cowboys' defensive staff can get him on the right track, he could be a skilled addition to the secondary.

Smith is getting a third chance with arguably the best defense in the NFL. If he can make the most of it, this has a chance at being the most under-the-radar move of the offseason.
