Cowboys Signing Eric Ebron Would Make a Lot of Sense

The Dallas Cowboys smartly made their intentions with Jason Witten clear when the team inked a three-year, $24.5 million contract extension with promising tight end Blake Jarwin.

Much to the dismay of Dallas devotees, Jarwin wasn't given starter snaps in 2019, but he still flashed enough potential to indicate he could be the Cowboys' tight end of the future. While we wholly endorse the hype that the 25-year-old has been generating, there's nothing wrong with admitting that he's not ready to carry the burden of a three-down player just yet.

Therefore, Dallas should take to the free agency market and look to poach former Indianapolis Colts red zone monster Eric Ebron to add much-needed beef to their TE tandem.

Everybody knows that the Cowboys finished with one of the most robust offenses in the NFL in 2019. However, the team often saw drives end in field goals (or attempts, at least) due to their inability to find the end zone.

Enter Ebron, who is just one year removed from a Pro Bowl campaign with the Colts during which he recorded a whopping 13 touchdown receptions. The former No. 10 overall pick didn't exactly follow that up with a standout showing in 2019, but, with all due respect, it's hard to replicate double-digit scores after transitioning from Andrew Luck to Jacoby Brissett at quarterback.

As long as the Cowboys don't overpay, the franchise would make out like bandits if they managed to land Ebron in free agency in a supplementary role.
