Cowboys Signing Emmanuel Sanders Would Be What the Randall Cobb Signing Was Supposed to Be

The Dallas Cowboys got off to a rapid start in the NFL's legal tampering period, quickly franchise tagging Dak Prescott before moving to lock down Amari Cooper and Blake Jarwin. The Cowboys later agreed to a deal with defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, adding more firepower to a potent defensive line.

Per NFL insider Jane Slater, the Cowboys aren't finished yet. The team is reportedly interested in free agent wideout Emmanuel Sanders, who spends his offseasons training in the Dallas area.

The Cowboys are in need of a slot receiver after watching Randall Cobb sign with the Houston Texans. Cobb was productive for Dallas last season, registering 55 receptions for 828 yards and three touchdowns. Based on Sanders' showing in San Francisco, there's no reason to believe he couldn't slide in muster even better numbers.

At 33 years old, Sanders proved with both the Broncos and 49ers in 2019 that he has plenty left in the tank. Despite coming off an Achilles injury, the SMU product logged 66 receptions for 869 yards and six scores. He'll definitely be looking to sign with a contender, and despite their shortcomings last year, the Cowboys undeniably fit that bill.

There's just no reason for Dallas not to pursue the two-time Pro Bowler. A receiving trio of Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and Sanders would make the Cowboys' offense as formidable as any in the NFL.
