Cowboys Reportedly Interested in Signing Former Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith
By Michael Luciano

The Dallas Cowboys are looking for some depth behind Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith, and they might just find it in the form of a former Super Bowl MVP.
The Cowboys are reportedly interested in former Seattle Seahawks linebacker Malcolm Smith, who has played in just two games this season, as Vander Esch continues to nurse a neck injury.
The #Cowboys have an interest in signing LB Malcolm Smith per source. Smith played with Seattle and won the Super Bowl MVP in 2013. A free agent he would give them depth with LVE nursing neck stinger and Luke Gifford out for the season with fractured arm

Smith was a backup linebacker for the first four years of his career in Seattle. With the Seahawks, he started 16 games, made 132 tackles, and won MVP of Super Bowl XLVIII when he ran back an interception for a touchdown. He then left for the Oakland Raiders, where he started for two seasons, surpassing the 100-tackle mark in each of those campaigns.
After a down year with the San Francisco 49ers in 2018, Smith only managed two weeks on an active roster in 2019, as he saw special teams duty with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Smith has been a more than serviceable backup for a few years now, and gambling on the former Super Bowl MVP seems fairly low risk for the Cowboys.
