Cowboys RB Coach Insists Ezekiel Elliott Has Learned From His Mistake

The Dallas Cowboys hope to be contenders in the NFC this season, and their ceiling will be contingent on one man: all-pro running back Ezekiel Elliott. He's made his fair share of mistakes in his young NFL career, with the most recent being an incident in which he knocked down a security guard at a Las Vegas music festival.

The music festival gaffe is being investigated by the NFL, but Cowboys running backs coach Gary Brown insists that Elliott is maturing.

According to Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, Brown says that Elliott is a very intelligent guy and that "he's got to move forward." Brown also added that "even the greatest leaders make mistakes."

Everyone does make mistakes, but Elliott's have been too plentiful and too public to inspire confidence in his future behavior. As of yet, the 23-year-old simply has not been able to stay out of trouble and become the leader Dallas needs.

For the Cowboys to be successful this season, they need Elliott on the field. Moving forward, he needs to exercise some of the maturity the Cowboys claim he has developed. His coaches believe in him, and they also feel that he's genuinely taking strides in the right direction.
