If there was ever a cherry to place on top of the Dallas Cowboys' dumpster fire of a campaign -- that was at its peak following Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles with an NFC East title on the line -- this is surely it.

Per Mike Fisher of Sports Illustrated, the Cowboys' team plane wasn't functioning well enough to be cleared for their flight back to Dallas. Team officials are now working in order to find a new way for the team to return home.

You'd think Jerry Jones would be able to supply the team with a functioning plane.

Safety, of course, is the paramount concern here, so it's relieving to hear that necessary precautions were taken prior to take-off.

Fisher updated Dallas' outlandish predicament by stating that the original plane is undergoing construction to be deemed "viable." Meanwhile, a significant number of players, coaches, and staff will fly back to Big D in a smaller plane.

Others will have to stick around in the City of Brotherly Love for a little while longer.

Let's just hope that everybody makes it home safe and sound.

In the end, Cowboys fans can view this development as a perfect portrayal of their team's season. Like their charter plane, Dallas failed to show up when it mattered most.
