Cowboys Have Had Incredibly Easy Schedule in 2019 but Haven't Capitalized
By Jerry Trotta

The vibes in Big D might be positive, as the 5-3 Dallas Cowboys sit atop the NFC East through nine weeks of the 2019 season, less than a game in front of the second place Philadelphia Eagles (5-4).
What Cowboys fans might not realize, however, is the fact that their team hasn't capitalized on one of the NFL's easiest schedules thus far.
Folks, Jason Garrett's side has played the EASIEST schedule in terms of opposing defenses, and the No. 30 schedule in terms of opposing offenses. A team with Super Bowl aspirations should, at the very least, boast a 7-2 record with a cupcake slate like that.
It's not getting as much attention as Buffalo and New England's schedules but it is worth noting that Dallas has played the No. 30 schedule of opposing offenses and the No. 32 schedule (easiest) of opposing defenses.

When you look back at their first eight games, those numbers aren't at all surprising. America's Team has played the Giants (twice), Redskins, Dolphins, Jets (whom they lost to) and the Eagles. They also lost to a Saints team with Teddy Bridgewater under center.
That's no disrespect to Bridgewater, who was 5-0 with Drew Brees sidelined, but a team with as much "star power" as the Cowboys should have been able to defeat a New Orleans team with Brees shelved.
Dallas' schedule becomes even more anemic when you look at the combined records of their opponents. Only New England has had an easier go of things on their calendar.
NFL Opponent Records through week 9. (Hardest Schedule).

1. Buccaneers (43-23)
2. Browns (42-25)
..
..
30. Cowboys (26-42)
31. Patriots (24-49)
Not here to say the Bucs are better than these 2 teams (or even close). But this is crazy.
Well, the Cowboys' schedule down the stretch will be one of the most damning in the league, as they won't face an easy opponent until Week 17 against the Redskins.
Prior to that, Dallas will play the likes of the Lions, Patriots, Bills, Bears, Rams and Eagles, consecutively.
That's a gauntlet by any stretch of the imagination and it will tell us just how for real (or fake) the Cowboys are.
