Taco Charlton, a defensive end on the Dallas Cowboys young defense, has undergone ankle surgery.

It is another barrier on the road back for Charlton who had shoulder surgery this offseason as well.

The 24-year-old had one sack last season following three in the 2017 season, showing glimpses of explosiveness off of the edge. The Cowboys selected Charlton in the first round of 2017 and expect more production from the young pass rusher.

Charlton took to Twitter to announce the minor surgery, assuring Cowboys fans that he will come back in full force for the 2019 season. It is hard to watch the defensive end struggle with all these minor injuries, especially when this offseason was supposed to be a a time for growth in the early stages of his career.

The Cowboys are facing other problems on the defensive side of the ball due to the recent Tyrone Crawford charges, and getting Charlton back healthy this season is a necessity for them to compete in the NFC East.
