Cornerback Nydair Rouse Getting Chance With Packers Just 3 Years After Being Shot In The Head
By Michael Luciano

If this doesn't get your tears flowing, nothing will.
Former West Chester University cornerback Nydair Rouse was shot several times in the head in 2016 in his neighborhood in North Philadelphia, putting not just his football future, but also his life in doubt. Just three years later, after a couple of All-Conference seasons, Rouse has officially signed with Green Bay as an undrafted free agent.
“The bullet was actually lodged in my head and I wound up driving myself to the local hospital, to Temple University, and I actually pulled it out,” Rouse said of the incident.

Rouse piled up 19 tackles and two interceptions during his final year at West Chester, where he played both linebacker and defensive back.
Rouse caught everyone's eye when he added around 15 pounds of weight for his pro day. A 4.44 and 4.41 in the 40 yard dash solidified his status as a springy athlete worth gambling on.

Making it from D-II West Chester to the NFL is hard enough, let alone after narrowly escaping death. Congratulations to Rouse, who has the makings of a special teams ace that could stick in Green Bay.
