Another day, another sad COVID-19 diagnosis at the site of an NFL stadium project. On the heels of news last week that a construction worker at the Las Vegas Raiders soon-to-be new home, Allegiant Stadium, tested positive for the coronavirus, the same has happend in Inglewood, California at the site of SoFi Stadium, which will play host to the Rams and Chargers.

Construction will continue on the stadium, with project leaders insisting that social distancing practices are being adhered to.

The news reveals the darker side of these days of stay-at-home an shelter-in-place orders that have taken hold for about a third of the earth's population. Those who work in what are deemed to be essential services are still going to work despite the notable health risks, but are we so sure that the construction of an NFL stadium is as essential as, say, keeping a grocery store or a pharmacy or a health care facility open?

Yes, physical laborers deserve the right to earn a living. But it's clear with this latest diagnosis that there are significant risks involved on top of the already-perilous nature of large-scale construction work. As it stands, all we can do is wish for the very best for those affected and hope that the COVID-19 outbreak doesn't further affect those simply out there to do their jobs in good faith.
