3 Schools That Need to Go After Former Clemson QB Chase Brice in Transfer Portal

Quarterbacks like Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa lit up the college football world this season. But as is the case with all good things, their time at this level of football came to an end.

Now, plenty of schools will have to turn their attention towards recruiting and the transfer portal, and these four programs should try their hand at snagging Clemson transfer quarterback Chase Brice as he tries to step out of Trevor Lawrence's shadow.

Filling in for Joe Burrow following his 60-touchdown campaign will be no easy task, but Brice could actually be just what the Tigers need. They have a capable quarterback to look to in Myles Brennan, but there are still questions about his readiness. Brice could be the perfect bridge quarterback to give Brennan another year to grow.

2. USF

Though it might not be the flashiest landing spot, there are some intriguing ties between USF and Brice. New head coach Jeff Scott was the co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Clemson from 2015 to 2019. Perhaps the two of them could team up to reproduce some Clemson magic at a lesser program.

1. Oregon

The Ducks thrived under Justin Herbert in 2019, and now that the senior star is headed to the NFL, Brice is the perfect guy to take over. Though his 139.4 passer rating doesn't quite stack up to Herbert's 153.1, he's a far better runner than Herbert. Head coach Mario Cristobal has shown a willingness for competition in 2020, and he could mold the offense around Brice's talents to squeeze the most out of him in the Pac-12.
