Clemson DT Xavier Kelly Announces Decision to Enter the Transfer Portal

Xavier Kelly struggled to log meaningful snaps at Clemson during his tenure with the program, and thus the defensive tackle has decided to seek greener pastures.

Kelly announced via Twitter that he plans to enter the transfer portal after spending three seasons with the Tigers.

Kelly only managed six tackles during his junior season in 2019. He recorded 0.5 sacks while featuring in just five games.

The former 4-star recruit was the No. 8 defensive end in the class of 2016, and the top overall player out of the state of Kansas.

In his three-year tenure at Clemson, he only managed to log 22 total tackles while appearing in just 15 games, thus prompting him to seek out increased opportunity with a new program.

Kelly is a redshirt junior and will be a graduate transfer, having earned a degree in Sports Communication. Thus, the 22-year-old will be immediately eligible to play at whatever university he latches on with.
