2020 has brought a wave of change in the United States and one positive has been universities removing the names of controversial figures from buildings. One of the more notable examples of a university dealing with such a problem came at Cincinnati.

The school's baseball stadium wore the name of former Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott, who was kicked out of MLB for her acist and anti-Semitic comments. Former Boston Red Sox and UC Bearcats star Kevin Youkilis amplified a petition asking for the school to change the name and an official announcement finally came down this week.

Money should never trump what is right. Just because Schott's foundation gave money to the school doesn't mean her legacy should live on in a positive way. Her name is also being removed from a part of the library at the university.

This is positive change brought on by pressure from prominent figures such as Youkilis. One fair argument showing up in the replies to this story is that the school still took several million dollars from Schott's foundation. Returning the money would truly show pushback against everything Schott stood for, but it not likely to happen.
