Chris Young Calls Peter Gammons to Deny He Claimed He Started Apple Watch Cheating With Yankees

Late Monday night, Barstool Sports Boston Red Sox writer Jared Carrabis put on blast a claim made by sportswriter Peter Gammons that former New York Yankee Chris Young had reportedly said he had learned some cheating tactics using Apple Watches from his time in the Bronx.

But right when it seemed to Carrabis that he had finally won, and that he had some sort of weak defense to the fact that the Red Sox cheated the year they had won the World Series, Young called Gammons to retract the claim.

Gammons continued in a later tweet:

It seems as though Carrabis' celebration was a bit too quick, as while Gammons delivered the blockbuster news, it was quickly shut down by the man who reportedly said it.

Even still, Carrabis should be hesitant to celebrate. Even if Young steps back again and says the cheating occurred, it happened in 2015. It was five years ago, and the Yankees didn't get a championship out of it. Not only that, but it was long before the Red Sox got a slap on the wrist for the exact same thing in 2017, which forced Rob Manfred to issue a statement about teams using technology to cheat. The Red Sox continued to cheat and got an illegitimate championship out of it.

According to Andy Martino of SNY, Young was in fact investigated and found guilty of cheating in Boston in 2017, and no substantial evidence was found of illicit activity when he and former Houston Astro Carlos Beltran were with the Yankees. Because...? Anyone? Nothing was illegal in 2015! It was only illegal post-2017, when Boston continued the behavior. What separates the Red Sox from the Yankees in this situation, if Young's initial claims are true, is that the Red Sox continued to cheat.

Carrabis continues to grasp for straws in his attempts to bring down the Bombers along with the Sawx, and once again made himself look like a fool after Young retracted his claims.
