The NFL once again owns the sports spotlight -- sorry, KBO! -- having resumed dominate the headlines with the imminent release of its 2020 regular season schedule. As is the case every year, matchups are leaked hours before the airing of its televised special.

On early Thursday afternoon, it was revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs will begin their Super Bowl title defense in the on Thursday Night Football against the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.

This matchup brings back great memories for the Chiefs, and terrible nightmares for the Texans.

These two teams squared off in the AFC Divisional Playoffs this past season. At one point, the Texans held a 24-0 lead over the Chiefs at the early goings of the contest, but a botched fake punt gave the Chiefs all the momentum, as they went on to win 51-31 to advance to the AFC Championship Game.

The majority of the Chiefs' Super Bowl-winning roster will return for the upcoming season, plus a few additions, like rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and former 2017 first-round selection Taco Charlton.

As for Houston, the offense is going to look mighty different this time around. Head coach and de facto general manager Bill O'Brien opted to trade superstar receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals, and effectively replaced him with Randall Cobb and Brandin Cooks. They acquired running back David Johnson in the Hopkins trade, but it's unclear how much he has left in the tank.

We cannot know if this Texans squad will match the explosiveness it displayed last season, but we fully expect the Chiefs to have a field day in Kansas City on Opening Night.
