Even though Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill has escaped any formal legal punishment, the NFL is likely expected to step in and hand the embattled receiver a suspension, even if it's not as harsh as many were first expecting.

According to one as-yet-unidentified Chiefs official, Hill is facing a "maximum" suspension of four games. In the first five weeks of the 2019 season, the Chiefs play the Jaguars, Raiders, Ravens, Lions, and Colts.

This could have ended up much worse for Hill, who will reportedly not be charged with child abuse after his three-year-old son broke his arm despite an audio tape leaking that featured Hill apparently threatening his fiancee, Crystal Espinal, as they discussed the child.

Instead, Hill appears to be in for a minor slap on the wrist with a chance to get back on the field soon. With 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, the Chiefs have even been looking into extending their speed demon.

Hill's football career could have been in extreme jeopardy if prosecutors felt they had sufficient slam-dunk evidence to take this case to trial, but instead, he'll end up with a comparatively light suspension and could end up on the field early in the season.

While Hill's questionable character is certainly taking another noticeable hit from this, he himself has to be relieved that the suspension was not more draconian. It absolutely could have been.
