Chiefs made the right call in keeping Travis Kelce out of action in Week 1

In a bit of a shocker, the Kansas City Chiefs were forced to take the field on Thursday night without one of their best players: Travis Kelce. Kelce was dealing with a minor knee injury and while he tested things in the morning leading up to the action, head coach Andy Reid decided to rule him out.

Let's be real here, this was 100 percent the right call. The Chiefs will next take the field in 10 days, which will give Kelce more than enough time to get himself healthy. As badly as he wanted to play in the season-opener, KC simply could not risk his long-term health.

Kelce is without question one of the best tight ends in the game and he's a major reason the Chiefs have won two recent Super Bowls. He's in line to have a monster season for this team. While it sucked to not see him play in primetime vs. Detroit, the Chiefs are thinking about the rest of the campaign here.
