Chiefs LT Eric Fisher to Undergo Core Muscle Surgery and Miss Significant Time
By Michael Luciano

Patrick Mahomes' blind-side protector is going to miss the next month or so as he works his way back from a core muscle injury.
Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher will undergo surgery, leaving former Browns first-round pick Cameron Erving to start in his place against the Baltimore Ravens.
Dr. William C. Meyers will perform the core muscle surgery, which usually has a recovery time of 4-6 weeks. https://t.co/V9SgZIzmcj

After being picked first overall in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Central Michigan, Fisher has had an uneven start to his career, having been benched several times for poor performance.
In the last few years, however, he has really turned it around, becoming a durable left tackle that was named to his first Pro Bowl last year.
This is not the news Kansas City wanted to hear before they have to face a Ravens defense that has allowed just 27 points this season through two games.

If Erving can hold down the fort for a month, Fisher should slide back in and Mahomes will have one of his best offensive lines back to full health. Until then, it could get rough, because Erving was a turnstile at left tackle the last time we saw him.
