Chiefs Dodged a Bullet by Not Trading for Patrick Peterson Before PED Suspension
By Brian Cass

Heading into this offseason, many NFL analysts speculated that the Arizona Cardinals could part ways with their longtime corner Patrick Peterson. One of the teams mentioned in possible trade talks was the Kansas City Chiefs.
Andy Reid and his team already have one star player dealing with off the field issues in Tyreek Hill, so they surely don't want to add to that list. Luckily, they never ended up pursuing Peterson, who just got suspended for six games because he violated the league's PED policy.
Actually six games. Patrick Peterson dropped his appeal. Six games. https://t.co/8eSyrkIfSh

The Chiefs really dodged a bullet here. Giving up draft picks for someone who's going to miss a good portion of his first season with the team is less than ideal
Even before he got suspended, it didn't seem like the Chiefs were all that interested in the Cardinals' cornerback to begin with.
The Chiefs have had zero talks about Patrick Peterson, as of now. https://t.co/1OR0enZ57u

Kansas City has been without a shutdown DB since dealing Marcus Peters to the Los Angeles Rams last offseason, so going after someone like Peterson would've made sense. Not to mention, they lost Eric Berry this offseason. But it looks like they have confidence in the young corners they have on their roster.
KC brought in former Washington Redskins and Green Bay Packers corner Bashaud Breeland in free agency and they also spent two draft picks on defensive backs, selecting safety Juan Thornhill and corner Rashad Fenton.
The Chiefs may still need some help at corner, but as it turns out, they wouldn't have gotten that aid even if they did trade for Peterson.
