Chiefs Defense is Proving it's Not Built to Help Carry Team in Postseason

Under Andy Reid, the Kansas City Chiefs have looked like one of the top-tier teams in the NFL. But there's still one glaring issue that his squad has yet to address.

Their defense held them back last year and it's doing so again this season. And despite hiring a new defensive coordinator, there haven't been any improvements whatsoever. Just look at these numbers against elite offenses.

The unit held its own against the Vikings on Sunday and forced a timely turnover, but still surrendered 23 points before escaping with some heroics from kicker Harrison Butker.

Reid is an offensive genius who's been gifted with an absolute stud in Patrick Mahomes. That combination has been able to somewhat compensate for the other side of the ball. But with Mahomes out right now due to a knee injury, the team is getting completely exposed.

This was further demonstrated in a rough loss to the Packers last Sunday where Aaron Rodgers was able to do whatever he wanted.

Yes, it's Aaron Rodgers, but these are the types of offenses the Chiefs will have to face in the postseason. And even with Mahomes back, there's only so much he can do to prevent the defense from being exposed.
