A difficult climb back to the NFL for one AAF standout just got that much tougher.

Keith Reaser, who spent time with the Chiefs during 2018's training camp, thrived with the Orlando Apollos, then made his was back to KC to compete for a job this offseason, went down with a lower leg injury on Monday.

He was carted off shortly after an initial examination.

And initial reports from Andy Reid suggest the injury is about as serious as they come, as the head coach believes that Reaser suffered an Achilles tear, a major blow for the player aiming to finally find his footing in the NFL.

Reaser primarily played the 2014-2017 seasons with San Francisco, making a one-game cameo in KC in 2017 before flaming out with an injury during last year's camp. He recovered a fumble in Kansas City's Wild Card round loss to the Tennessee Titans in early 2018.

He made a much larger impression in the AAF, however, becoming the very first player from that league to sign an NFL deal after their lockout began on April 4, rocking a trio of picks in just eight games amid that bankrupt bunch.
