As Nick Saban has a tendency to do, he might be poaching another former high profile coach in need of a redemption tour for his staff.

Saban welcomed Charlie Strong to Tuscaloosa on Thursday, and the two reportedly discussed some sort of off-field analyst role. The 59-year-old Strong is fresh off failed tenures as Texas and then South Florida, so a year learning from the best wouldn't be the worst idea.

Butch Jones was once in a similar role with Saban, although his was coined as an internship, likely as an inside joke between the two.

Strong has been a consistently mediocre 37-37 over the past six years, but if he wants another chance at a major program he's going to have to put in his dues, starting with a less-than-luxurious role with Saban. It's a strategy which must be frustrating for a veteran coaching mind, but a necessity to get back to the mountaintop.

Strong has a lot to add to Alabama's coaching staff, should he choose to work under Saban.
