Channing Frye's Take on Michael Jordan is Probably the Dumbest Thing We've Ever Heard

Channing Frye is not buying into the Michael Jordan hype. The former NBA journeyman who won a title in 2016 on the back of Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James knows a thing or two about playing among the best in the game, but he definitely missed the mark when talking about MJ.

Frye made it clear that he doesn't see Jordan as the NBA's GOAT, let alone someone that athletes would want to play with. He took some heavy shots at Jordan on Saturday on the Talkin' Blazers podcast.

Simply put, Frye's take couldn't be more off base. Jordan had plenty of other jobs than scoring. He was a lockdown defender, earning him the 1987-88 Defensive Player of the Year award, and averaged 2.3 steals per game across his CAREER! He was also a key playmaker in the Bulls' triangle offense, averaging 5.3 assists per game across his career.

And even if his "only job" was to score, he did it better than anyone ever. He won 10 scoring titles, 6 Finals MVPs and shot nearly 50% from the field for his career.

Also, who cares about who "modern" NBA players want to play with?

Frye should know better than anyone what it means for a star to alienate teammates. His GOAT pick in LeBron James is one of the most notorious players of all time in that right, having pushed away teammates like Kyrie Irving and the entire 2018-2019 Los Angeles Lakers.

It takes much more than scoring to win six NBA titles and five league MVPs. Frye's pro-LeBron bias is glaring in his recent quotes, and his takes are extremely far from the truth.
