Less than 48 hours removed from his shocking death, Kobe Bryant's life has been commemorated in a heartfelt cascade of tributes. Our social media feeds have been filled with tear-jerking posts, and his passing has dominated the worldwide news cycle. But now, a group of fans are trying to embed Bryant into some truly indelible NBA history.

A petition created Sunday on Change.org has been circulated in hopes of convincing NBA offcials to replace the league's iconic Jerry West silhouette logo with that of Kobe. Sure, it's not likely to happen any time soon, but it must be noted just how popular this petition has been in just a single day's time.

To no surprise, this is Change.org's fastest-growing petition between the time of its creation and this writing. In barely over 24 hours on the web, the petition has generated more than 400,000 online signatures – closing in on its initial stated goal of 500,000.

This really would be the ultimate way to honor Kobe's legacy, but some naturally think it's far too soon to buy into the idea of replacing the great Jerry West in the annals of NBA inconography.

Given that players and teams have already begun honoring Bryant on the court, there's no doubt the NBA will pay serious homage to Bryant at next month's All-Star Weekend -- as well as at the Basketball Hall of Fame's 2020 enshrinement weekend, at which Kobe will take his place in Springfield among the all-time greats of the game.
