Speculation has been swirling all over the NBA regarding free agency, which begins in a few short days. One of the latest updates could involve a blockbuster deal among three teams.

The Boston Celtics are reportedly interested in being the third team in a sign-and-trade between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Houston Rockets, in which their goal will be to obtain Clint Capela.

Prior to the possible inclusion of the Celtics, the deal between the Sixers and the Rockets was specualted to be a sign-and-trade that would send Butler to Houston. This was brought about as a last-chance effort by the Sixers to get something back for Butler in case he wasn't interested in staying with Philly.

But make no mistake, the Rockets are actively seeking Butler, they just don't have the cap space available to get him in free agency.

What brings Boston into the mix is a need from all parties. Houston would need to give up Capela and two of his teammates to make the financials of the trade work. Boston is now actively seeking the addition of Capela, so that eliminates one. The Sixers could then acquire Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker in the deal as well (in addition to picks) to make it happen.

This sure seems messy but all of these teams need to make a big impact in free agency, so it might just work out.
