VIDEO: CC Sabathia's Mom's Reaction to His Final Regular Season Start in Pinstripes is Heartwarming
By Adam Weinrib

She's been there every step of the way, so if you thought Margie Sabathia was missing her son CC's potential final appearance in pinstripes, then you don't know the Sabathia clan. With playoff appearances remaining an uncertainty, and the team heading out on the road to close the campaign starting Tuesday, CC's honorific start on Wednesday night could well be his last chance to don the home uniform he's repped well for the past 11 seasons. And as he walked off the mound in the third, several strikeouts richer, Margie properly saluted his decades of accomplishments.

She just watched him walk off the mound at the end of a HOF career as thousands poured out their love for her son.

Yeah. That'll get ya.
CC, otherwise known as Carsten Charles Sabathia before getting it shortened by his beloved grandmother, grew up in Vallejo, California with Margie by his side. Though his father left the family in 1992, CC's mom bought catcher's gear, helped fuel his dream, and kept him in check whenever he'd lose his cool in a Little League battle (and if you know CC, you know he's since channeled that energy into screaming at the Tampa Bay Rays).
