Kevin Love was widely expected to be one of the most sought-after players at the NBA trade deadline, and while teams have certainly be interested in the star power forward, it seems a deal is unlikely to occur.

According to reports, the Cavaliers have been unsuccessful in trying to offload Love, and have thus given up on making a deal.

While Love is among the most talented players said to be available, his gargantuan contract makes trading him difficult. The 31-year-old signed a four-year, $120 million deal with the Cavs this offseason, and is due to make just under $29 million in 2019-20.

With that much money on his contract, the Cavs had to realize trading him would be a hard sell, and considering the team was insistent upon acquiring a first-round pick, their high ask seems to have dissuaded the rest of the league.

On the year, Love is averaging 17.4 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists across 31.1 minutes per game.

The Cavs will likely look to resume trade talks for Love in the offseason, though for now the big man seems destined to stay put in Cleveland.
