Carson Wentz's Clear Regression Should Have Eagles Panicking Over Letting Nick Foles Walk

The Philadelphia Eagles had a paradigm-shifting choice to make last year, and decided to stick with former No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz over Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles.

As reactionary as it may seem, plenty of Eagles fans would like a re-do after Wentz's performance Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. But more importantly, they have to be questioning their team's long-term direction, even if they made the prudent foundational decision at the time.

Carson Wentz had just about the worst day imaginable against the Seattle Seahawks, as his receiver-less offense could manage just nine points in a 17-9 loss.

Wentz's 33-for-45 day with 256 passing yards looks like a solid day at face value, but most of those were on a final drive in which Seattle was playing a prevent defense that allowed Wentz to stat pad late.

The more telling stat is the fact that Wentz ended the day with four turnovers, as he lost two fumbles and threw two interceptions. When you pair his newfound penchant for turning the ball over with the fact that he left the game with another injury before returning, plenty of Eagles are rueing the day they let Foles walk out the door to Jacksonville.

Like it or hate it, the Eagles are stuck with Wentz. While that means plenty of 300-yard passing days, it also means plenty of games like this.
