Carolina Signing Teddy Bridgewater Would Be Jolt Panthers-Saints Rivalry Needs

The New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers are rivals -- there's no debating this fact. The two teams are in the same division and have played many games against each other. However, while the Saints finished with a 13-3 record last year, the Panthers were only able to muster a 5-11 mark. Despite some relative success against one another, such a battle has become one-sided in terms of recent accomplishments.

The relationship could become more heated very soon. Teddy Bridgewater, the Saints' backup quarterback of the past two seasons, could very well move to the Panthers this offseason, should he choose.

In his two years in New Orleans, the former Pro Bowler would fill in whenever incumbent quarterback Drew Brees was injured.

The Saints believe that Taysom Hill, a 29-year-old swiss-army knife with 119 career passing yards, will be a better backup for Brees than Bridgewater. This frees up Teddy to sign wherever he chooses without looking back. With that in mind, why not Carolina?

If Bridgewater ends up in Carolina, expect the new-and-improved team to show the Saints that they mean business with Matt Rhule at the helm. And at the very least, it would make for some creative storylines that divisional rivalries like these thrive on.
