When a journeyman backup quarterback makes offseason headlines, it tends not to be for the best possible reasons. That holds painfully true for the Arizona Cardinals' Brett Hundley, who is now being sued by his former wife for battery, domestic violence, emotional distress and negligence, per TMZ.

It's an ugly list of allegations, all of which Hundley denied via his attorney, insisting that the woman -- who is designated only as Jane Doe in court documents -- is attempting "a malicious effort at extortion."

Hundley, a Green Bay Packers fifth-round pick out of UCLA in 2015, is on his third NFL team after joining the Cardinals before the 2019 season. He's thrown 337 passes and accounted for 11 total touchdowns for his carer.

The accuser later told TMZ through her attorney that she never previously went to police with her allegations due to previous efforts being made to reconcile with Hundley behind closed doors. Her lawsuit describes episodes of Hundley choking her, shoving her and contributing to extensive emotional trauma.

The former couple, who met while in college at UCLA, began divorce proceedings two years ago. That legal process is reportedly not fully resolved as of this time.
