Cardinals Promote Hitting Prospect Rangel Ravelo to MLB
By Brendan Azoff

The slugger is ready for the show. The Cardinals have promoted prospect Rangel Ravelo to the bigs, as they placed infielder Yairo Munoz on the paternity list. The move is set to give the 27-year-old Ravelo his first chance in the MLB, although this stint may be a short one.
We have purchased the contract of rookie 1B/OF Rangel Ravelo from Memphis (AAA) and placed INF Yairo Muñoz on the Paternity List. Ravelo will wear uniform no. 47.

To make room on the 40-man roster, we have transferred RHP Mike Mayers from the 10-day IL to the 60-day IL. pic.twitter.com/qCO6k4cArx
In 10 minor league seasons, Ravelo has hit .301, including a .299 average in five Triple-A campaigns.
This year, Ravelo has hit extremely well for the Cardinals Triple-A affiliate the Memphis Redbirds, with a .333 average, nine homers and 43 RBI.
I asked a friend who works in baseball over the winter if there was a minor leaguer they really liked. They said "Rangel Ravelo," which wasn't a name I was terribly familiar with.

I should have looked more closely. He just put up a .333/.414/.543 at AAA & got a call up to STL.
If given the opportunity to play, you better believe Ravelo will be ready, as 10 seasons in the minors is a long time to wait for your MLB opportunity. Everyone will be rooting for the Cards to give Ravelo at least one at-bat in his stint with the team, and if they do, all eyes will be on the Cuban prospect.
