Cardinals Calling Up Top Prospect Genesis Cabrera and Starting Him on Wednesday

The wait is over for 22-year-old left-handed hurler Genesis Cabrera. The young man has stayed patient enough and is getting called up to the show.
On Sunday, manager Mike Shildt informed reporters St. Louis will be calling him up from Triple-A Memphis. Not only that, he's getting the start on Wednesday to make his MLB debut.

Cabrera arrived to St. Louis last year as part of the deal that sent Tommy Pham over to the Rays. At Memphis this season, the LHP has posted a 6.35 ERA in 39 2/3 innings.
His numbers certainly don't stick out as positive, but he's got a fastball that flirts with 100 MPH. Consistently tossing in the high 90s, St. Louis is hopeful Cabrera will be able to take a turn moving forward. A strong start on Wednesday could be just what he needs to get his confidence back.
Lefty Genesis Cabrera will start Wednesday. Barring a surprise that will make him the 2,000th #Cardinals player in club history. #stlcards #Phillies

Come Wednesday, Cabrera won't get a warm welcome from the Phillies, with Bryce Harper and Co. looking to light him up in his first big-league action. We'll see how he's able to answer to the pressure.
