Everyone knows about Michael Jordan’s immortal crossover of Bryon Russell in Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals. Well, apparently not everyone.

In a Twitter meme, a zoomed-in shot of MJ’s crossover shows a close-up of Russell’s shoes, and they do not look like the best footwear for playing basketball at the highest level. The best part was not the photo itself, but the caption and one of the responses to go along with it.

That’s right. Byron Scott had to clear his name to make sure he would not be ridiculed on Twitter for being “Byron Russell.” One mistake that both Twitter users made was the actual spelling of Russell’s name in the first place.

For Russell, his footwear looked more like he was ready for a cookout rather than an elimination NBA Finals game. For Scott, who never even played for Utah during his 14-year NBA career, he had to protect himself and his Twitter mentions from being mistaken as the guy who was crossed over for one of the greatest shots of all time.
