Byron Jones and DeMarcus Lawrence Likely to Begin Cowboys Training Camp on PUP List
By Will Fowler

When the Dallas Cowboys re-signed edge man DeMarcus Lawrence to a five-year, $105 million contract extension, the implications were that he would be expected to solidify his status as one of the best defensive ends in the entire league.
It seems he'll have to wait a bit to prove his value, however, as the Cowboys anticipate that the 27-year-old will begin training camp on the NFL's physically unable to perform (PUP) list alongside defensive back Byron Jones.

Both Jones and Lawrence are working their way back from significant offseason surgeries. Jones underwent a hip procedure, while Lawrence celebrating the signing of his new contract by getting work done on his shoulder.
While Jones' status is still up in the air, Lawrence has said he expects to miss all four preseason contests for Big D, though the team has expressed confidence that both will be back in time for their 2019 season opener against the Giants.
As of today, Byron Jones and DeMarcus Lawrence are the only Cowboys players working back from injuries that are not expected to participate at the start of training camp. Jason Garrett: "Everybody is on schedule. We feel good about where they are coming back."

Both players will need to play huge roles for the Cowboys this season, but the team has made a point not to rush the Pro Bowlers back to full health. Steady as she goes for Jason Garrett's team as they aim to make another trip to the postseason.
