Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin Doesn't Seem to Fully Understand Tom Brady is 100% Taking No. 12 From Him

Chris Godwin had a career year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season. He finished with 1,333 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. This all came with Jameis Winston throwing him the ball.

Now Tom Brady is the quarterback in Tampa Bay and that creates a problem for Godwin, who wears the No. 12. Brady has a whole brand, TB12, based on that number, and it's clear he's going to keep wearing it on his new team. Godwin seems to think this isn't already set in stone.

Brady is getting the number, even if he doesn't want it. Everyone knows this. If Godwin did raise an issue about that, he would probably be traded the next day. Saying he will defer to Brady on the matter is almost laughable if not for the fact Godwin has worn the number since high school. Regardless, it's already gone and he should start coping with reality.

On the other hand, Godwin said Brady is the GOAT and expressed utmost respect for the six-time Super Bowl champion. He was certainly genuine and revealed his admiration for the QB, but he's being a bit too naive about having to surrender his number.
