Bruce Arians Had Ridiculous Reaction to Blaine Gabbert Dislocating His Shoulder

Old-school football coaches have different expectations of their players than the new brigade, who seem to care about silly things like analytics and player safety. No, for the old guard, it's better to rub dirt on an injury than get an MRI, and that seems to be the thought process of Tampa Bay Bucs head coach Bruce Arians.

Bucs backup QB Blaine Gabbert suffered a dislocated shoulder during Tampa Bay's game against the Browns on Friday. Thankfully, though, it wasn't that serious, at least in Arians' mind.

Classic 1980's mindset right there.

Of course, we all know Bruce has a good sense of humor, and clearly he was joking right there. But in a pinch, couldn't you see him sending Blaine back out on the field, sling on his left arm, playing out of the shotgun, leading the Bucs in a two-minute drill, right up until his arm fell off? Me too.

Dislocated shoulders might not be something to joke about around Sean McVay (or maybe they are, not sure), but Arians plays by his own rules, and that's why his players love him. He'll back them through thick and thin, injury or not, right up until the end.
