As if a loss to a Denver Broncos team that started a quarterback who hadn't previously taken an NFL snap wasn't enough, the Cleveland Browns also have a public relations mess on their hands.

Safety Jermaine Whitehead indefensibly took to Twitter after the loss to barbarically threaten fans that were slighting his (and the Browns') performance. Cleveland subsequently released a statement professing that the "matter would be further addressed internally."

Well, the matter has certainly been addressed, and it's resulted in Whitehead getting waived by the team.

This had to be the expected outcome, right?

Players come across adversity all of the time in their respective sport, and you don't (always) see them threatening to harm hecklers on social media, who are literally itching to get them to reply in the exact disturbing manner that Whitehead did.

Whitehead was embarrassed on a pair of big plays that led to two Broncos' touchdowns which resulted in some negative feedback on social media. Clearly he did not respond well.

The Browns will now have to find somebody on their roster to start at safety for next weekend's tilt against the 6-2 Buffalo Bills. As it stands, Morgan Burnett is the most likely candidate to earn the start in Week 10.

Whitehead played every snap on Sunday and has started all eight games for Cleveland in 2019, recording 41 combined tackles, one forced fumble, two quarterback hits, and one interception.
