Browns Sign Former Cowboys TE Rico Gathers
By Sean Facey

The Browns have made a move to shore up their depth at tight end.
In addition to waving tight end and fullback Orson Charles, Cleveland is bringing in former Dallas Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers, who could finally get an opportunity to catch passes in this league.

Gathers, a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys, appeared in 15 games for Dallas in 2018. He managed three receptions for 45 yards, serving primarily as a blocker.
He's set to serve a one-game suspension at the start of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The suspension stems from an arrest for possession of marijuana back in August of 2018.
Standing at 6-6 and weighing in at 285 pounds, the 25-year-old former basketball player at Baylor certainly has the size to play in the NFL. He just hasn't pieced it together yet since he was drafted in 2016.

He'll be hard-pressed to find consistent playing time as a pass-catcher in 2019, though. Barring injury, former first-round pick David Njoku is set to receive the bulk of the targets among tight ends from quarterback Baker Mayfield.
At the very least, he gives the Browns more depth, both in the offense and the blocking game.
