The list of coaching candidates for the Browns' vacancy is only growing deeper. After speaking with Mike McCarthy, Eric Bieniemy, Brian Daboll and Greg Roman, the next man on their target list appears to be Jim Schwartz.

The team has requested to interview the Eagles' current defensive coordinator Monday. Schwartz has run the show for the Eagles defense since 2016, and was the man in charge during their Super Bowl run of 2018. Upon his hiring by the team, he immediately instituted his traditional 4-3 defense in Philadelphia in replacement of their 3-4, which resulted in an immense year-to-year turnaround, supercharging their defense from 30th in yards allowed and 28th in terms of points, to 13th and 12th the following campaign.

Prior to his time in Philadelphia, Schwartz spent one season manning the defense in Buffalo, where his regime was good for fourth in the NFL in points and yards allowed, and spent five seasons in Detroit as the Lions' head coach. He began as the Titans defensive coordinator from 2001-2008.

Schwartz is a known defensive line enthusiast, and guided the Eagles to the best rushing defense in the league the year they won their Super Bowl, while the team finished fourth overall in terms of defensive rating.
