The Browns Are a Sad Team for Placing a 2nd-Round Tender on Disgraced RB Kareem Hunt

The Cleveland Browns were the center of controversy for a hot minute last season when they decided to sign Kareem Hunt despite all the controversy surrounding him. The former Kansas City Chiefs running back had been suspended for eight games after being caught on tape getting into a physical altercation with a woman.

This move was decided upon by the old regime in Cleveland, which was already questionable given the circumstances, coupled with the fact star back Nick Chubb is the main man in the Browns' offense. Well, it seems the new front office is oddly keen on Hunt, too, because the team just placed a second-round tender on him.

It's clear that no matter who's running the show, the Browns have no direction. Perhaps they have no real set of morals, either. Hunt was once again the center of the worst kind of attention this offseason when he was pulled over for speeding in January, an episode in which the cops found marijuana in his car. He wasn't charged for possession, but it's yet another bad look for the back, who was additionally caught on camera getting into an altercation at a Cleveland bar last June.

Is this guy seriously worth all the trouble, especially for a team like the Browns? Cleveland has enough to worry about with Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. in terms of negative media coverage, after all.

It's understandable the Browns want a stacked backfield with Chubb and Hunt, but the team's seemingly unwavering support for a clear troublemaker is yet another bad look for the franchise. Running backs are easier to come by these days, so the front office standing by Hunt like this proves their priorities are out of whack.
