The Cleveland Browns are the only team in the NFL that still hasn't filled their head coaching vacancy, though they might be on the verge of finding the guy to lead them into the next few years.

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is interviewing with the Browns on Friday, and reports claim that Jimmy Haslam could manage to lock McDaniels up by the end of the day if it all goes well.

That's what the Indianapolis Colts probably thought two years ago.

McDaniels was the offensive coordinator in New England near the end of the 2000s, and became head coach of the Denver Broncos in 2009, where he didn't even last two seasons before he got canned.

McDaniels returned to New England, and he helped Tom Brady pick up a few more Super Bowls over the last half-decade.

If the Browns are still hitching their wagon on the Baker Mayfield rollercoaster, there aren't many better candidates to help develop a young quarterback.

We know McDaniels can scheme up some good plays, he's got the jewelry to prove it. The question surrounding his viability as a head coach is his ability, or potential lack thereof, to lead men and galvanize a locker room. There might not be a locker room in more need of leadership than the Browns.

If McDaniels has learned from his mistakes in Denver, this could work out.
