The Brooklyn Nets' 2019-20 season hasn't exactly gone to plan, as evidenced by the team parting ways with head coach Kenny Atkinson and tenuously holding onto one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference. Granted, expectations needed to be tempered to begin with considering that massive offseason acquisition Kevin Durant would miss the entire year as he recovered from a ruptured Achilles tendon. Clips have surfaced over the past couple of months of the former two-time NBA Finals MVP's rehabilitation progress, and on Tuesday, a new clip surfaced on Instagram, featuring KD driving to the net and dunking just like his old self.

The fact that Durant is finally getting some elevation shows that he's getting closer and closer to his long-awaited return.

Of course, that won't happen this season. Even so, Durant's presence was felt on the Nets for better or for worse, as his views about the team's culture reportedly contributed in some way to the organization parting ways with Atkinson. This isn't a shock considering the NBA is a player-driven league, however, and KD has as much power as any player not named LeBron James.

This campaign may be a lost one in many ways, but Nets fans can take solace in the fact that Durant will be donning a Nets uniform soon.
