Vic Fangio's Denver Broncos are staring down the barrel of a Top-5 pick, mostly due to their laughable quarterback situation that includes a well-past-his-prime Joe Flacco and Brandon Allen, who was a career backup for a reason.

The Broncos have yet to turn to 2019 second-round pick Drew Lock, who hasn't played since he suffered a thumb injury in the preseason. However, Denver is considering activating Lock and starting him in Week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Keep in mind that even with Tua Tagovailoa's historic production, it's Lock, a former Missouri Tiger, who still holds the record for touchdown passes in a single SEC season at 44. Lock may not be the most accurate thrower or particularly mobile, but he has a rocket launcher of a right arm, and has plus NFL arm talent with the ability to deliver with touch deep down the field.

With five games left on the schedule, and the Chargers serving as the best defense Denver will play, this is a perfect stretch for Lock to audition for a franchise quarterback gig.

Nothing has gone right for Denver this year, but Lock showing that he's the guy for 2020 at least would be a major positive to take away from an otherwise worthless season.
