Broncos Need to Make Re-Signing Shelby Harris Their Next Priority in Free Agency

Shelby Harris has made a name for himself in the NFL with the Denver Broncos. The former Oakland Raiders seventh-round draft pick joined the Broncos in 2017 and has played in all 16 games in each of his three seasons in town.
Harris is currently a free agent and is due for a big contract. The Broncos have around $27 million in cap space and can afford to keep him in the Mile High, a move John Elway should be eyeing after Denver's strong start to free agency.

* Experience at NT, 3T, 5T
* 6 sacks, 8 TFLs in '19
* 9 pass breakups led all NFL DTs
* Only 1 penalty on 638 snaps
* On right side of 30
* Per @PFF, 28 pressures 19th most among 96 qualified DTs. Only played 60% of #Broncos DEF snaps
The veteran defensive lineman had six sacks in 2019 and 49 total tackles. Both marks were new career-highs. The team may be moving on from Derek Wolfe, leaving new addition Jurrell Casey as the top player at the position group. Re-signing Harris would help keep a great offseason going for the Broncos.
#Broncos offseason:

- Franchise tagged Justin Simmons
- Trade for AJ Bouye
- Trade for Jurrell Casey
- Sign Graham Glasgow
- Sign Melvin Gordon
- Have 6 picks in first 4 rounds
Keep in mind they won 4 out of their last 5 with Drew Lock starting. A lot to be excited about.
The Broncos acquired Harris and turned him into a talented player. While he's been inconsistent at times, he's showcased his ability to be a high-level defensive tackle. Letting him walk in free agency would be a mistake for Elway and Co after his efficient three years with the organization.
