Brock Holt spent seven seasons with the Boston Red Sox before leaving to join the Milwaukee Brewers this offseason. He was rarely an everyday starter during his tenure, but did make an All-Star Game in 2015.

He departed Boston in an offseason when the team decided to shed salary. Recent comments by Holt reflected that he did not exactly feel wanted within the Red Sox organization.

Red Sox fans may be a bit frustrated with the organization in an offseason that saw Mookie Betts traded to Los Angeles, all in the name of shedding salary.

Holt was in Boston long enough to become a beloved fan favorite. The team's argument for letting him walk could be that he was only a 7.6 WAR player in seven seasons. That doesn't set him up as deserving of a multi-million dollar deal when every dime is being analyzed by the front office.

Yet fans don't care about a rich owner's budget and Red Sox fans are sad to see Holt go. He now joins a list of former Sox favorites playing elsewhere in 2020.
