It's not as if New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman wasn't trying to sign Gerrit Cole, but he got a big push from one enterprising fan who decided to ask him to make the move in no uncertain terms by making a sign that read "Please Sign Gerrit Cole." And he posted it right where Cashman was surely least expecting it.

Cashman rappelled his way down the side of the Landmark Building in Stamford Connecticut Friday -- yes, this is a thing that he does -- and when he reached the 10th floor, he saw the pro-Cole poster in the window.

Cashman, ever the daredevil, performed the feat in preparation for an annual holiday celebration. But this one came with a special free agency twist.

With Cole, a childhood Yankee fan, now getting encouragement from former Yankee and Astro Andy Pettitte to join the Bombers, Yankee fans have truly piled on the support through unconventional means.

One of the funnier aspects of this is develop, ment? The fact that Yankee fans are taking these tactics even though Cole is reportedly not expected sign with any team until at least January. Cashman has already visited with Cole and Stephen Strasburg in California, but he surely knows that their ultimate decisions are still to be made.

Yankee fans will have to wait beyond the holiday season to find out if Cole will be in pinstripes in 2020, but you definitely have to admit they are dedicated.
