A 20-year-old 5-9, 163 pound pitcher who started the year in the Florida State League doesn't seem like an ideal candidate to help one of the best teams in baseball during a stretch run, but Yankees prospect Deivi Garcia might be forcing their hand.

Yankees GM Brain Cashman said that Garcia, who was just promoted to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, is "pushing himself into the mix" for some innings at the MLB level.

The Yankees' No. 4 prospect on MLB.com, Garcia is 4-5 with a 3.01 ERA over 14 starts this season. He's struck out an absurd 114 batters in just 68.2 innings while spending time with the Single-A Tampa Tarpons and Double-A Trenton Thunder.

Garcia made himself known to the world at the Futures Game, where he put up a perfect 1-2-3 inning in what was his final pitching appearance before his promotion to Scranton.

Garcia's raw stuff is the best the Yankees have in their farm system right now. While the argument against rushing him to the big leagues is certainly valid, Garcia is pitching too well to ride a bus to road games in the minor leagues.
